FOX Selects Gotuit to Power Hell’s Kitchen on Fox.com

With innovative and distinctive programming and marketing, FOX is the record-setting No. 1 broadcast network among Adults 18-49, 18-34 and Teens.

FOX chose Gotuit to power a new broadband video portal for Hell's Kitchen, their #1 summer series.  Starring superstar chef Gordon Ramsay, the series pits aspiring restaurateurs against each other in a cutthroat culinary competition.

Called Sliced and Diced, the Gotuit-powered video portal contains an archive of past programs and is updated for each new Hell's Kitchen episode.  Gotuit metadata is authored to define each scene within the original program, to allow the viewer to easily get to the most compelling moments for them.  Structured video attributes are also defined to present more information about the video and drive superior video search.

FOX used the Gotuit Plugin to create an engaging viewing experience which presents the scenes to the user in attention-grabbing playlists such as Ramsay's Flip Outs, Meltdowns, Showdowns, Dish Disasters, and playlists for each Chef.  There is also a Best Of playlist, automated feeds for the Most Watched and Highest Rated scenes, and a playlist for each episode in its linear order  These options better convert the visitor to the page into a viewer, by providing different paths that the viewer can choose to enjoy the video.

The scene attributes are enabled as clickable tags to power video search.  These structured attributes include information such as Contestant, Emotion, Playlist, and others.  Viewers can also type in search terms.  The combination of the discretely identified scenes and the larger information set for each scene results in a better video search experience for Hell's Kitchen.

Each scene can be shared via IM, email, Twitter, or embedded on Facebook, MySpace or numerous other social media sites.  This is because the Gotuit Video Metadata Management System creates a URL and embed code for each individual scene and playlist.  Viewers get all the sharing benefits of physical clips, without FOX having to do any video editing.

Another significant aspect of Sliced and Diced is that it takes advantage of Gotuit's integration with Brightcove.  All the original source content is stored by FOX within Brightcove, and a Brightcove chromeless player is used on the destination site.  When the user selects a scene to watch, the Gotuit Plugin instructs the Brightcove player which asset to play and what time offset the scene starts.  The advantage for FOX is that they did not have to change their existing video workflow for the source content.
