Gotuit and Inlet Team Up For Live Video Metadata Authoring

  | Share on Twitter Twitter | Share on Facebook Facebook |  Share on LinkedIn LinkedIn

Gotuit can now deliver its premium, scene-based metadata for publishers minutes after a live broadcast

Woburn , MA – August 26, 2009 – Gotuit, a leading provider of broadband video metadata technologies , today announced that it has integrated with Inlet Technologies, the leader in live streaming and on-demand solutions for digital media. Video publishers using Gotuit’s Video Metadata Management System (VMMS) along with Inlet’s Spinnaker TM 7000 HD real-time streaming encoder can now author premium, scene-level metadata for video programs as they are being broadcast. The result is that both the final broadband video file and associated metadata file can be delivered to the destination web site within minutes of the live broadcast.

“The faster brands can get video to their site, along with rich, accurate and relevant metadata, the better they will be able to monetize their content,” said Mark Pascarella, CEO of Gotuit. “We are thrilled to be able to tap into Inlet’s powerful abilities to encode video on the fly so that metadata can be authored while a program is being broadcast. Human-authored metadata has always had a significant advantage in quality and accuracy over automated solutions, and this integrated process adds to the speed of our patented solution.”

“We are excited to work with Gotuit to enable broadcast networks, cable channels, sports organizations and other content owners to deliver a high quality end-user experience in the fastest possible time,” said Neil Selvin, President of Inlet Technologies. “Time-to-market is a crucial success factor in this industry. At a time when viewers have multiple destinations from which they can watch the same content, publishers gain a significant advantage over competitors when they deliver that content first.”

The combined solution is able to encode broadcast MPEG-2 (SD or HD) into broadband video formats like Flash VP6 or h.264. The Gotuit VMMS is then used to author metadata against the broadband video, and publish both the video file and associated video metadata files to the destination site(s). The result is an interactive viewing experience with scene-by-scene navigation, compelling playlists and navigational paths across the library, accurate video search, and precise advertising insertion points beyond the limitations of linear advertising breaks.

Woburn , MA – March 24, 2009Gotuit, a leading provider of broadband video advertising and presentation technology, announced Major League Soccer has selected Gotuit to power QuickKicks, their video portal at www.mlsnet.com/quickkicks, for the fourth consecutive year.

MLS fans can use QuickKicks to easily search, navigate, and share all the 2009 game video with instant access to the game highlights, goals, saves, and their favorite player’s plays. Gotuit Connects With thePlatform

  | Share on Twitter Twitter | Share on Facebook Facebook |  Share on LinkedIn LinkedIn

Gotuit’s Video Metadata Management System now compatible with thePlatform’s Media Publishing System

Woburn, MA - December 11, 2008 - Gotuit, a leading provider of video optimization technologies , today announced that it has integrated with thePlatform, a subsidiary of Comcast (NASDAQ: CMCSA) and the leading white-label video management and publishing company for broadband, mobile and TV. Video publishers using thePlatform's Media Publishing System to manage their video can now use the Gotuit Video Metadata Management System™ (VMMS) to author premium, scene-level metadata to improve the presentation, personalization, discovery, advertising inventory, and monetization of their broadband video libraries.

"Today's announcement with thePlatform is the latest in a series of integrations that connect our hosted metadata solution with the professional video ecosystem," said Gotuit CEO Mark Pascarella. "Many of the world's leading video publishers have chosen thePlatform as their content management system, and this integration enables these publishers to achieve a new level of content presentation and monetization using Gotuit's patented technology and premium metadata."

Gotuit's VMMS transforms video libraries by utilizing metadata to define the smallest usable elements within original source videos - the individual scenes. These scenes can then be used to dramatically impact the key dimensions that drive a video's performance:

  • Visit traffic increases due to a) increases in repeat visits, b) more viral sharing of scenes and playlists, and c) greatly enhanced, scene-level mRSS feeds out to video search engines;
  • Session time increases due to a significantly improved user experience, where the viewer can enjoy a personalized mode of watching that gets directly to the scenes of greatest interest; and
  • Monetization increases due to the combination of longer session time with a larger ad inventory from the more precise and flexible ability to serve in-video ads at any scene boundary.

With the completed integration, publishers can use Gotuit's video metadata authoring application, VideoMarker Pro™, to define scene-level metadata for video assets managed within thePlatform. The metadata is then managed by Gotuit's hosted data service, Gotuit Metadata Services™, and is served via the publisher's content delivery network to the destination web page. Gotuit has several player templates available, as well as documented player components, for customers to build their own Gotuit-powered playback experience. Learn more at www.gotuit.com.

Gotuit Announces Integration with DoubleClick

  | Share on Twitter Twitter | Share on Facebook Facebook |  Share on LinkedIn LinkedIn

Enabling superior content monetization and targeted advertising for broadband video publishers

Woburn, MA – October 22, 2008 – Gotuit, a leading provider of video optimization technologies , today announced that it has completed an integration with DoubleClick, a division of Google (NSDQ: GOOG) and a premier provider of digital marketing technology and services . This integration enables Gotuit customers to serve video advertising with the DoubleClick In-Stream solution within Gotuit-powered player environments.

“Our mission at Gotuit is to transform publishers’ ability to monetize their content by harnessing the power of the individual scene,” said Gotuit CEO Mark Pascarella. “Combining our world-class advertising insertion capability with the world-class advertising services of DoubleClick is an ideal match for publishers to unleash the full value of their video libraries.”

Gotuit empowers video publishers to greatly improve how they monetize their video libraries by creating structured metadata describing each meaningful scene within the original source videos. This metadata defines the optimal in-stream video ad insertion points, allowing publishers greater advertising control and flexibility. For example, Gotuit customers can set ad request logic based on a viewer’s session time and/or the number of scenes watched, across the entire library. As a result of the new mid-roll ad opportunities, Gotuit-enabled publishers have far greater ad inventories than those limited to pre- and post-roll options. The scene definitions also allow the viewer to easily personalize their viewing experience and get directly to what is most interesting.

In addition, the ads served can be targeted based on the scene metadata such as Character, Player, Topic, Keyword, etc. When making the ad request, the Gotuit scene metadata can be sent to DoubleClick for delivery of the most appropriate and valuable advertisement.

The solution is currently live with Sports Illustrated’s 2008 Heisman Watch video portal, powered by Gotuit, with advertising served by DoubleClick.

SI taps Gotuit’s advanced advertising capabilities for college football video highlights

Woburn, MA - October 6, 2008 - Gotuit, a leading provider of video discovery, presentation and monetization technologies , today announced Time Inc.'s Sports Illustrated has expanded its relationship with Gotuit to power their broadband video portal focused on the leading candidates for the 2008 NCAA Heisman Trophy. The SI.com 2008 Heisman Watch (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/ncaa/specials/heisman/2008/video/) provides viewers with a searchable database of video highlights from the top NCAA college football players organized by player, position, school, or Sports Illustrated's exclusive rankings.

Sponsored by Nissan, the 2008 Heisman Watch FilmRoom utilizes Gotuit's advanced advertising capabilities to display in-stream video ads from DoubleClick. Viewers are shown a pre-roll ad on their first video, then will not see an ad again for a certain time period set by SI no matter where they navigate in the video portal. This drives the users to sample more player video while seeing the appropriate number of ads along the way. Gotuit customers can configure logic for pre-roll, mid-roll, or post-roll ads, and can have separate logic for the in-page player and the embedded player for off-site viewing.

"Continuing our line of successful FilmRooms, the 2008 Heisman Watch site gives college football fans the unique combination of SI's editorial perspective matched with compelling video highlights. Fans can enjoy a 2008 preview, and weekly video updates for the top players in college football," said Stacey Vollman, VP/General Manager, SI.com. "Gotuit's powerful video technology lets fans easily watch, share, and embed the players and highlights they are most interested in."

Key features of 2008 Heisman Watch on SI.com, powered by Gotuit, include:

  • Video highlights of the top college football players accessible by Top Contenders, Player, School, or Position
  • Instant access to favorite highlights; jump inside a video directly to a specific play
  • Weekly updates for each player's games, with navigation to specific plays
  • Embedded player for viewers to embed any player or highlight in their own blog or site
  • Deep video search and navigation capabilities across the entire video library

"We are thrilled to launch our latest FilmRoom with SI," said Dan Gill, Vice President of Business Development for Gotuit. "SI is taking great advantage of our advanced advertising capabilities that go beyond the standard pre-roll, combined with our superior viewing experience, to deliver a compelling and lucrative application."

Gotuit and Pixsy Raise the Bar on Video Search

  | Share on Twitter Twitter | Share on Facebook Facebook |  Share on LinkedIn LinkedIn

Gotuit's premium, scene-level video metadata greatly increases the size, precision, and relevancy of Pixsy's video search index

Woburn , MA & San Francisco CA - September 30, 2008 - Gotuit, a leading provider of video optimization technologies, today announced that it has partnered with Pixsy, the leading B2B provider of private label video and image search, to deliver a greatly enhanced video search and syndication capability . Gotuit customers using the Gotuit Video Metadata Management System (VMMS), now can have mRSS feeds of their Gotuit-powered video library published to and ingested by Pixsy's Media Search Platform to drive greater traffic and monetization.

"Video search is a difficult problem that Gotuit's premium metadata is ideally suited to solve," said Gotuit CEO Mark Pascarella. "By publishing a detailed set of information about each individual scene within the source video asset, the amount of information in a search index about a video library explodes. Our customers love the fact that by using Gotuit they can publish between 10x and 25x more data to the video search providers like Pixsy. This directly translates into increased traffic."

Gotuit empowers video publishers to greatly improve how they monetize their video libraries by creating structured metadata describing each meaningful scene within the original source videos. This allows publishers to fundamentally improve how they package and present their content on their site, and allows the viewer to personalize their viewing experience. These factors combine to greatly improve session time and the associated ads served.

In addition to its on-page benefits, the scene-level metadata can now be syndicated through mRSS feeds to Pixsy for inclusion in their Video Search Playback(VSP) platform. Each scene has a thumbnail, title, description, direct URL link, embedded player code, and other structured attributes defined by the publisher. Instead of a single asset in the mRSS feed, each scene is individually identified using the premium metadata. Pixsy can then use this to drive more traffic back to the original site, or offer far more video elements within Pixsy's VSP for publishers to enjoy greater monetization when their content is watched off site.

"Gotuit's premium metadata approach is a terrific fit with Pixsy's mission to dramatically enhance traffic and monetization for website owners," said Pixsy CEO Chase Norlin. "Allowing our search technology to work against each scene inside an asset, instead of just the asset itself, grows the search index for each video by an order of magnitude for the user to better search against and the website to monetize."

In addition to greatly increasing the number of items within a search index due to the scene definition, the metadata describing the scenes can be more accurate, precise and contain new information that cannot be determined from a simple speech-to-text or computer vision approach. Publishers using the patented Gotuit technology can add their own information about each scene, including elements like Emotion, Location, Plot Line, Topic, Keyword, and other data elements that significantly enhance the breadth of information available for video search.

About Pixsy

Pixsy Corporation is the leading B2B provider of private label Video and Image Search to websites and applications. The Pixsy mission is to deliver the highest quality video and image search products to customers across the globe with solutions designed to dramatically enhance traffic and monetization for website owners. Gotuit and Move Networks Announce Integration Enabling Advanced Advertising and Monetization Capabilities

  | Share on Twitter Twitter | Share on Facebook Facebook |  Share on LinkedIn LinkedIn

Partnership utilizes Gotuit’s Video Metadata Management System with Move Media Services

Woburn, MA and American Fork, UT - August 7, 2008 - Gotuit, the leading provider of video metadata management solutions, and Move Networks, a leading provider of Internet television services, today announced an integration partnership and their first joint customer. The integration enables Gotuit's system for defining targeted advertising insertion points and flexible ad-serving logic to be used with video libraries published in the Move Networks video format.

The video technologies and services developed and managed by Move Networks enable leading brands such as ABC, ESPN, Fox, and the CW to deliver live and on-demand programming to millions of viewers without the buffering, stalling, and low-quality viewing experiences common with competing technologies. This high-quality experience, coupled with comprehensive viewer metrics, and the delivery of highly relevant ads, enables content publishers to attract and capture the attention of today's viewer that demand access to premium content anytime, anywhere.

Gotuit empowers broadband video publishers to greatly enhance how they monetize their video libraries by authoring structured metadata describing each meaningful scene within the original source videos. This metadata defines the optimal in-stream video ad insertion points, allowing publishers greater control and flexibility with their advertising strategies. In addition, the ads served in the precise insertion points can be targeted by third-party ad providers based on the scene metadata such as Character Name, Player Name, Topic, Keyword, etc. Banner or overlay ads can also be targeted based on the rich metadata.

Move customers using the Gotuit integration can now enjoy greater ad logic flexibility. Rather than just pre- and post-rolls for each asset, they can set their ad logic to utilize the mid-roll insertion points. The publisher sets the ad timer, and the Gotuit-Move solution will play an ad at the next available insertion point, no matter what asset or scene is being viewed, after the timer has expired. The result is that the viewer has the freedom to sample more assets and navigate directly to the most interesting scenes, while the publisher is able to monetize that experience in the most effective way possible.

In summary, Move Networks and Gotuit's solution:

  • Optimizes monetization due to precise ad-insertion points, flexible ad logic, and the ability to target both in-stream and in-page advertising using rich scene-level metadata;
  • Drives better viewer engagement due to improved presentation of the video library with multiple navigational paths the viewers can choose to personalize their experience;
  • Improves user experience due to the enhanced video search to allow a viewer to get directly to the scenes inside the video.

"Radical changes in the way that people access and consume video content are driving both viewers and advertising revenues to the Internet," said John Edwards, CEO of Move Networks. "Move's technology has been designed to deliver the best viewer experience allowing media companies to stream high-definition video, increase viewer engagement and better monetize their assets. Our partnership with Gotuit, and their unique approach to harnessing the power of rich metadata, provides the publisher additional avenues to monetize that experience."

"As a pioneer in the use of video metadata, our patented technology and services have been proven to drive the most value from streaming video," said Mark Pascarella, CEO of Gotuit. "Incorporating the compelling video quality delivered by Move is a significant milestone in our on-going pursuit to make video more enjoyable to watch and more valuable to monetize."

Gotuit and Move Networks have successfully deployed the solution with XONtv at www.xontv.tv (member login required), across their library of thousands of hours of outdoor-related video programming.
