Gotuit Time-Based Video Metadata Delivers Premium Experience for Live Event
WOBURN, MA – August 16, 2010 – Gotuit, a leading provider of video metadata technologies, today announced that PGA.com licensed Gotuit’s Video Metadata Management System (VMMS) to enhance the broadband video presentation and monetization of the 2010 PGA Championship as seen on www.pga.com. Gotuit’s time-based video metadata drove the live player, individual golfer video players, and the tournament-wide video hub for the four day event.
The patented Gotuit VMMS was used to define each individual scene (shot) within the original live broadcast across three different video feeds as the tournament occurred, with metadata delivered in near real-time to augment the video experience. Viewers of the live feed could choose markers denoting the key moments and jump instantly to the start of each scene. Fans of particular golfers could see each individual shot within a video player for just that golfer. Automated playlists leveraging structured metadata tags about each scene were available in the hub including By Round, By Hole, Eagles, Birdies, Bogies, and more.
“We are pleased PGA.com chose Gotuit for such an important and prominent event,” said Mark Pascarella, CEO of Gotuit. “Time-based video metadata is ideal for a live event like the PGA Championship, as fans want to quickly and easily get to the moments they care most about. The leverage of a single metadata process driving multiple live and on-demand video portals is also a significant benefit for PGA.com.”
The rich, structured video metadata also defined the advertising inventory, with advertising delivered through Gotuit’s integration with FreeWheel. Each defined scene boundary was an available advertising insertion point, improving PGA.com’s ability to monetize the content.

Gotuit Video Metadata Management System unleashes video for FOX's No. 1 summer series
WOBURN, MA - June 23, 2010 - Gotuit, a leading provider of video metadata technologies, today announced that FOX has licensed Gotuit's Video Metadata Management System (VMMS) to enhance the presentation and monetization of their video library on www.fox.com/hellskitchen/video. FOX, the record-setting No. 1 broadcast network among Adults 18-49, 18-34 and Teens, chose Hell's Kitchen, their No. 1 summer series, to be the first program website on FOX.com to be powered by Gotuit. Starring superstar chef Gordon Ramsay, the series, which airs Tuesdays (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX, pits aspiring restaurateurs against each other in a cutthroat culinary competition.
Called "Sliced and Diced," the Gotuit-powered Hell's Kitchen video portal on FOX.com contains an archive of past programs and is updated for each new Hell's Kitchen episode within minutes of the episode's broadcast. Gotuit metadata is authored to define each scene within the original program, allowing the viewer to get to the most compelling moments. Structured video attributes are defined to present more video information and drive superior video search.
"We are pleased to have been chosen by FOX and to start our relationship powering such great content," said Mark Pascarella, CEO of Gotuit. "Reality programming is ideal for rich, temporal metadata as fans want to watch their favorite contestants, challenges, and other moments easily. Hell's Kitchen is just the start; we are planning additional announcements later this summer."
FOX used the Gotuit Plugin to create an engaging viewing experience on its Hell's Kitchen site that presents the scenes to the user in attention-grabbing playlists such as Ramsay's Rampages, Meltdowns, Showdowns, Dish Disasters, and playlists for each Chef. There is also a Best Of playlist, automated feeds for the Most Watched and Highest Rated scenes, and a playlist for each episode in its linear order.
The scene metadata attributes are enabled as clickable tags to power video search. These include information such as Contestant, Emotion, Playlist, and others. Viewers can also type in video search terms. The combination of the discretely identified scenes and the larger information set for each scene results in a better video search experience.
Each scene can be shared via IM, email, Twitter, or embedded on Facebook or numerous other social media sites. This is because the Gotuit VMMS creates a URL and embed code for each individual scene and playlist. Viewers get all the sharing benefits of physical clips without FOX doing any video editing.
FOX did not have to change their existing video workflow, as "Sliced and Diced" takes advantage of Gotuit's integration with Brightcove. All the original source content is stored within Brightcove, and a Brightcove chromeless player is used. When the user selects a scene, the Gotuit Plugin instructs the Brightcove player which asset to play at what time offset.
"Sliced and Diced" can be found on FOX.com at www.fox.com/hellskitchen/video/.

Video publishers create more ad inventory and
enhance targeting with scene-level metadata
Las Vegas, NV - April 13, 2010 - Gotuit, a leading video metadata technology company with customers including Turner, ESPN, and WWE among others, today announced at the National Association of Broadcasters show that it has integrated with FreeWheel, a leading video monetization technology company. Gotuit has joined FreeWheel's PAVE Initiative (Partners Accelerating the Video Economy), to help video publishers unleash the full value of their video archives through the use of temporal, scene-level metadata.
With the combined solution, publishers use Gotuit's Video Metadata Management System to define a structured set of time-based metadata for each individual scene within their source videos. The video metadata can include detail such as Topic, Talent, Player, Team, Character, Location, Show Segment, and Emotion and is customizable by each publisher. This metadata is ingested by the FreeWheel platform to create greater advertising inventory that can be keyword targeted for each individual scene.
The result is a superior monetization opportunity that can yield higher CPMs from enhanced targeting and the larger amount of advertising slots defined for each asset.
"Better monetization is the ultimate goal that all video publishers continue to strive for and this integration makes that possible," said Gotuit CEO Mark Pascarella. "Gotuit's patented technology creates a layer of rich metadata that defines the advertising insertion points along with accurate and descriptive information about each one. When sent to FreeWheel's digital ad management system, it creates an actionable solution that realizes the full benefit of the scene-level metadata and the full revenue potential of the video."

for joint Brightcove and Gotuit customers
Woburn, MA - March 18, 2010 - Gotuit, the leading video metadata technology company, today announced that it has partnered with Brightcove, the leading online video platform, to enable joint Brightcove and Gotuit customers to leverage Gotuit's temporal, scene-level video metadata and unleash the full value of their online video archives. Gotuit also announced that it has joined the Brightcove Alliance, the company's global partner program.

Gotuit can now deliver its premium, scene-based metadata for publishers minutes after a live broadcast
Woburn , MA – August 26, 2009 – Gotuit, a leading provider of broadband video metadata technologies , today announced that it has integrated with Inlet Technologies, the leader in live streaming and on-demand solutions for digital media. Video publishers using Gotuit’s Video Metadata Management System (VMMS) along with Inlet’s Spinnaker TM 7000 HD real-time streaming encoder can now author premium, scene-level metadata for video programs as they are being broadcast. The result is that both the final broadband video file and associated metadata file can be delivered to the destination web site within minutes of the live broadcast.
“The faster brands can get video to their site, along with rich, accurate and relevant metadata, the better they will be able to monetize their content,” said Mark Pascarella, CEO of Gotuit. “We are thrilled to be able to tap into Inlet’s powerful abilities to encode video on the fly so that metadata can be authored while a program is being broadcast. Human-authored metadata has always had a significant advantage in quality and accuracy over automated solutions, and this integrated process adds to the speed of our patented solution.”
“We are excited to work with Gotuit to enable broadcast networks, cable channels, sports organizations and other content owners to deliver a high quality end-user experience in the fastest possible time,” said Neil Selvin, President of Inlet Technologies. “Time-to-market is a crucial success factor in this industry. At a time when viewers have multiple destinations from which they can watch the same content, publishers gain a significant advantage over competitors when they deliver that content first.”
The combined solution is able to encode broadcast MPEG-2 (SD or HD) into broadband video formats like Flash VP6 or h.264. The Gotuit VMMS is then used to author metadata against the broadband video, and publish both the video file and associated video metadata files to the destination site(s). The result is an interactive viewing experience with scene-by-scene navigation, compelling playlists and navigational paths across the library, accurate video search, and precise advertising insertion points beyond the limitations of linear advertising breaks.
